Job Description:
Performs high-quality CT and MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies). Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Patient care and communication skills to deal with patients from infant, childhood, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. [Required] • Must be able to use computer systems for data entry and retrieval. [Required] • Basic clerical skills, record keeping, documentation, transfer of images to disk or film, and excellent customer service skills. [Required] • Must be able to make independent judgments as needed to adequately coordinate workflow and staffing. [Required] • Very little of the work is repetitive in nature. [Required] • Mature judgment is needed to resolve immediate or urgent problems and deal with multiple priorities. [Required] • Must be able to apply policy and procedures in a reasonable fashion, as well as make decisions where procedures are not available. [Required] • Interpretation and development of policy is necessary. [Required] • Have frequent ongoing contacts with patients, families, physicians, and other departments. Voice must be pleasant in face-to-face and telephone conversations. [Required] • Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds. [Required] • Knowledge of CT, X-ray, and MRI procedures/protocols. [Required] • Knowledge of CT, X-ray, and MRI scanners/equipment. [Required] • Ability to learn and grow with new technology. [Required] • CT, XR safety including radiation protection. [Required] • MR safety knowledge/screening. [Required] • Ability to learn and use Radiology software packages, including various PACS applications, CT/MR scanners, XR equipment, workstations, and EMR systems. [Required] • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures. [Required] • Maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures. [Required] • Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, shielding, and distance to keep exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable for patients and staff. [Required] • Ability to complete exams in an acceptable time frame to meet TAT goals. [Required] • Ability to assess, start, and confirm appropriate placement of IV’s for use in CT and MR studies. [Required] • The ability to assess, explain, and perform CT and MR studies on patients of all ages. [Required]

Pay Range:
$28.68 - $53.35
