JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a FINANCIAL CARE COUNSELOR to accurately complete patient accounts based on departmental protocol, policies and procedures, and compliance with regulatory agencies, to include but not limited to pre-admission, pre-registration and registration functions. Ensure that all insurance requirements are met prior to patient arrival and inform patients of their financial liability prior to receiving services. Arrange payment options with patients and screen patients for funding sources. Manage clinic workque's for billing issues, make corrections, and send for payment processing. Be point person and back-up for front desk/PSA assistance.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze insurance coverage and benefits for services provided to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. Obtain all prior authorization certification and/or authorizations as needed for ordered services. Admit, register and pre-register patients with accurate patient demographic and financial data.
Investigate and resolve insurance claim rejection/denials and remedy.
Calculate and collect cash payments appropriately for all patients.
Cash management- reconcile daily cash deposits, ensure daily collection batches are closed and accurate with system records; ensure all deposits are made according to cash management policy; and perform monthly cash audits with clinic management and report any discrepancies/issues.
Be able to speak directly with patients on bills/outstanding balances for services rendered. Determine necessary processes for setting up payment or making corrections to resend claims to ensure payment.
Consistently update patient insurance coverage and complete managed care waivers for patients considered out of network.
Able to support and back-up PSA/check-in services. Greets and provides assistance to visitors and patients.
Enter, update, and manage referrals as requested from the primary care physicians in the practice.
Communicate with insurance carriers regarding clinical information requested to solve related to coverage and payment.
Other clinic duties as assigned (Included but not limited to check in , check out process, monitor provider in baskets, orders, workques, referrals ,collect membership fees and float to cover closing at either site if needed.)
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Work requires knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles normally required through a high school education, with some postsecondary education and additional training preferred.
Two years of experience working in a healthcare setting or billing and collections; or an Associate's degree in a healthcare related field and one year of experience working with the public; or a Bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with the public.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent communication, oral, and written skills.
Must be able to analyze data, perform multiple tasks and work independently.
Develop and maintain a professional, service-oriented working relationship with patients, physicians, co-workers and supervisors.
Must be able to understand, becomes familiar with, and comply with all policy and procedures.
JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
