Description

Summary:
Participates in preparing budgets, financial statements, statistical reports, cost analyses, and other financial information for the UNC Health system. Reviews budget requests and recommends changes to support organizational goals and objectives. This role also supports service line analytics by developing standardized, actionable financial reporting, helping senior leaders understand performance drivers and the patient story. The analyst collaborates with operational and finance partners to improve data consistency, enhance reporting tools, and support systemwide alignment across service line structures and key performance metrics.
Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing and distributing financial reports, including dashboards, charts, and visualizations that highlight historical, current, and projected performance.
Use financial information systems and data visualization tools to conduct analyses, support process improvements, and enhance reporting efficiency with guidance from leaders and senior team members.
Maintain communication with entity managers to provide financial insights, address basic variances, and support budgeting system questions.
Monitor and compile budget activity, gather fiscal data, assist in evaluating budget requests, and prepare supporting materials for leaders and senior team members.
Ensure compliance with accounting and regulatory standards (GAAP, GASB, FASB) by accurately maintaining financial records.
Support service line reporting efforts by contributing to standardized and automated reporting aligned with service line definitions and patient centric insights, with direction from leaders and senior team members.
Assist in integrating service line definitions with operational, quality, and market metrics, helping develop dashboards and analytical tools used by leadership.
Provide analytical support during the budget process, helping identify trends, risks, and opportunities across assigned areas.
Investigate basic variances in partnership with service line and entity leaders, escalating complex issues to leaders and senior team members.
Collaborate with finance, strategy, and operational teams to improve data quality, enhance reporting tools, and support planning activities, while learning from senior level team members.
Other Information
Education Requirements: ? Master?s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Administration or related field or relevant combination of education and experience. Licensure/Certification Requirements: ? No licensure or certification required. Professional Experience Requirements: ? With a Master?s degree, no previous experience required. With a Bachelor?s degree, requires four (4) years of experience in financial planning or analysis. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: ? Research, retrieve and organize data to prepare reports and financial documentation, analyze and audit data.
