This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Grade Determinations: The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade: Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. ["The Implant Coordinator (IC) is responsible for spearheading the New York Harbor Healthcare System (NYHHS) Implant Program (IP), including planning, assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the Implant Program, coordinating the process of acquiring receiving and storing and issuing biological, and non-biological tissue purchased for used at NYHHS VA. Duties include but not limited to; Provides interprofessional educational programs, based on assessed learning needs of staff on the Implant Program. Demonstrates leadership by developing and coordinating programs to improve quality of care and organizational processes relating to acquisition, storage & issuance of tissue. Promotes quality patient care in the Implant and Tissue Program. Keeps current with research to provide evidence-based care and leadership on Implant and Tissue program. Serves as a consultant to the hospital and all disciplines on issues related to the Implant and Tissue Program. Coordinates Implant and Tissue performance improvement activities, consultation, and staff education, using evidenced based articles and information. As a change agent, the IC promotes an environment that embraces new knowledge, innovations, and improvements. The IC acts as a liaison with all procedure areas where biological and non-biological tissue are implanted. Refines data systems to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Serves as liaison with internal and external regulatory agencies for the Implant and Tissue Program. Documents in CPRC/VISTA all tissue implant information and complies with documentation and return of tissue usage information cards requested by source facilities. Responsible for all tissue acquired from a licensed tissue bank and FDA approve vendor, and for recording and storage based on manufacturer recommended temperature and other IFU information. Complies with manufacturer's Information for Use (IFU)/guidelines for tissue preparation. Reviews patient's VISTA/CPRS medical record and electronic log for tracing all tissues from the source facility to all recipients or other final disposition as biohazard waste. Maintains daily records to show that tissues are stored at required temperatures in compliance with the manufacturer's IFU. Ensures that documents relating to source facility, original numeric or alpha numeric and lot identification, expiration dates and all recipients are retained for a minimum of ten years as required by Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations 12.70.35 from the date of distribution, transplantation, disposition or expiration of tissue. Complies with Infection Control guidelines and collaborates with the Infection Control Manager/Program Manager regarding investigation of all recipients adverse events including transmission or other complication/s suspected of being directly related to tissue use. Initiates and competes incident report via Joint Patient Safety Reporting (JPSR) and Adverse Drug Event (ADE) relating to post-transplant infections or adverse events.
