This opportunity:

Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA

Status: Full-time

Days: TBD

Hours: 11pm to 7:30 am

Base Pay: $18.00 to $21.00

In this role, you will:

As a Send-Out Coordinator at WestPac Labs, you will be responsible for maintaining daily correspondence with reference laboratories and processing and ensuring the proper transportation of referral testing specimens. A Send-Out Coordinator will assist in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems related to day-to-day clerical operations including Turn Around Time (TAT's), Tests in Questions (TIQ's), and error problem investigation.

• Reports laboratory results using established protocols.
• Contact clients to resolve routine medical/technical matters related to patient testing.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements for shipping biohazardous substances; maintains certification for FAA shipping.
• Process and ensure the proper transportation of specimens for referral testing.
• Ensure referral testing is completed within the expected Turn Around Time (TAT) by regularly following up with laboratories.
• Maintain referral testing pending specimens on a daily basis.
• Respond to all designated referral laboratory exception handling department inquiries regarding specimens.
• Maintain communication with reference laboratories through a variety of methods to retrieve reports and complete cases.
• Accession specimens and requisitions received via fax and in-house, as necessary.
• Assist with client reporting and data entry into Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other medical software.
• Review outgoing clinical orders with appropriate requisition prior to forwarding specimen and filling requisitions to ensure test accuracy.
• Notify client services, sales reps, or clients when problems arise from cancelled test(s), delays in results, or improper specimen collections.
• Assist Client Services Department with report requests, as necessary.
• Assist Sales Department and/or clients on special test or specimen requirement details, as necessary.
• Contact clients for information regarding test verification, patient demographics, or requisitions, as necessary.
• Order and track additional test requests from Client Service Department or clients and report results when they are complete.
• Participate in and support all Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement endeavors for the laboratory, as necessary.
• In addition to typical work schedule, may be scheduled to work weekends, work split shifts, overtime, holidays, and attend mandatory company meetings, as necessary.
• Be required to perform other job duties, as necessary.

Required Education and Experience:

• Have a completed high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a medical background or demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology.
• Have experience in a high volume, fast-paced work environment.

Physical Demands:

• Have the ability to require lifting and carrying objects up to 25 pounds.

• Be able to reach, stoop/bend, kneel/crouch, push/pull, and walk.
• Engage in moderate to frequent computer work.
• Engage in moderate to frequent use of telephone and fax.
• Have the ability to see, hear, talk, and respond adequately.
