This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. OR Have a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution, with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature. AND Internship Requirement - You must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed and that is consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed; OR New VHA psychology internship programs that are in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement, provided that such programs were sanctioned by the VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Office of Academic Affiliations at the time that the individual was an intern; OR, VHA facilities that offered full-time, one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979) are considered to be acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement; OR, Applicants who completed an internship that was not accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed may be considered eligible for hire only if they are currently board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a specialty area that is consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. The Primary Purpose of the Position is: (GS-13) To serve as an inpatient neuropsychologist, in a full performance capacity, conducting a variety of complex neuropsychological and psychological assessments in a timely manner, consistent with the demands of a fast-paced and high demand service. Duties This is a direct patient care position which requires both General Core Psychology and Neuropsychology privileges. The primary focus of this job is to conduct complex neuropsychological and psychological assessments within a variety of inpatient settings related to a wide range of neurological, medical and psychological disorders. However, the employee may also be called upon to conduct work in an outpatient setting, as needed, to support the needs of the service. The employee demonstrates knowledge regarding a wide variety of psychological, neurological and medical conditions. The employee diagnoses cognitive and psychological disorders using a variety of assessment techniques including clinical interview, psychological and neuropsychological assessment. While most job duties are related to assessment, therapy may also be used to address behavioral issues, adjustment to illness, or care provider concerns. The employee may interact on various levels with the referring sources through direct and indirect communication. The employee is responsible for timely completion of all clinical documentation required by the Medical Center. Additionally, the employee provides outcome measurements using a data-driven quality assurance process, as needed and requested.
