In compliance with applicable State regulatory authorities, COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 vaccine requirement are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical or fully remote exemption. Requests for medical exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved medical exemption is required to start work.

Note: Individuals are eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster two months after completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19. Because vaccine-induced immunity can wane over time, MSK continues to strongly urge all staff to get a COVID-19 booster as soon as they become eligible to maintain their protective immunity for a longer period.

Job Description

We have a great opportunity for an Engineering Specialist I to join our Biomedical Engineering Team in New York, NY!

The main function is to maintain, calibrate, construct, and verify the safety and accurate operations of biomedical electronic equipment and systems.

We offer direct and ancillary patient care services throughout a network of 25 sites: 18 Manhattan Sites, 3 New Jersey sites, 3 Long Island sites, 1 Westchester site.

Our team manages over 40,000+ medical devices across the network. The number continues to grow as new sites and new services emerge.

You Will:

• Assist in repairs, calibrate basic electro-medical apparatus, record test data, and repair records in a Biomedical Engineering Computer Database.
• Assist in the testing and evaluation of electro-medical apparatus prior to purchase by the Center.
• Inspect, verify performance, and help with the installation of new equipment. Logs new devices into the computer inventory database upon receipt and inspection.
• Perform scheduled periodic maintenance (PM) and electrical safety testing equipment. For vendor-serviced equipment, communicate the PM status to the vendor and the owner/user departments.
• Assist engineer and lead technician in the development and preparation of maintenance, calibration, and test procedures.
• Upgrade equipment as per manufacturer's specifications and modify apparatus as advised by engineering staff.
• Construct electronic equipment from schematics and/or drawings as the need arises and advised by engineers and lead technicians.
• Report all problems, inputs from other departments, hazards, and safety suggestions to supervisors as they occur. Provide operational or safety information to other departments as the need arises.
• Contact vendors and suppliers as required.
• Assist in maintaining current technical literature and documentation for hospital and clinical engineering laboratory equipment.
• Initiate purchase requisitions for replacement parts and laboratory supplies as needed. Uses technologies for location and tracking of inventory items.

• Potential to eventually carry after-hour pager when required.

You Need:

• 2-year AAS degree in Biomedical Electronic Technology, medical equipment maintenance, computer science OR related/ equivalent technical science field and 4 years of proven experience preferred.
• Or bachelor's degree in Engineering, electrical, mechanical or biomedical; computer science or related science field and less than 2 years of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Analog and Digital electronics; use of oscilloscopes; digital multimeters, signal generators, etc.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in Information Technology and cyber security processes an advantage.

Work Shift:

M-F 9-5 with the ability to work between 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM two nights a week.

Pay Range $78,900.00-$126,200.00
