Program Description:

Children's Hospital Medicine Program is a collaborative medical practice of pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners who specialize in the care of hospitalized infants, children and teenagers. This is a 24/7/365 on-site service at both the Minneapolis and St. Paul hospital campuses.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

The nurse practitioner hospitalist provides assessments and creates a medical plan of care for hospitalized patients on admission, daily, and upon discharge. The nurse practitioner performs these tasks independently and in collaboration with the physician hospitalist. The practitioner will collect and synthesize data from historical information, diagnostic tests, therapeutic interventions, and physical examination to determine diagnosis and appropriate intervention consistent with their scope of practice, experience, board certification, and organizational professional staff policy. The hospitalist nurse practitioner works closely with hospital sub-specialists, surgical staff, nursing staff and social workers as part of creating a comprehensive treatment plan for patients and their families during their hospital stay.

Job Requirements:

To provide a safe, accessible and responsive service to our patient population the hospitalist team is required to provide on-site coverage days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. This is a shared expectation among the team of physicians and nurse practitioners with a minimum staffing of one physician and one nurse practitioner in the hospital 24/7. Back up coverage and call schedule requirements to be determined upon hire. Candidates are also expected to be available to work on both hospital campuses.

Current Minnesota RN license. Current MN APRN License. Master's or higher degree in Nursing. Nationally Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with either the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses (NCBPNP/N) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Current BLS Certification.
