This position is a psychology postdoctoral position (fellowship) with Geisinger Psychology's Integrated Care team. This position is in Danville, PA with Dr. Laura Adams serving as Primary Supervisor. The fellow will provide clinical care for patients under the supervision of attending psychologists. This position is full-time, and all job responsibilities are completed on site in person. Job Duties
The focus of Geisinger's postdoctoral fellowship is to develop the professional and leadership skills psychologists need in their many roles within an academic medical setting. Upon completion of this program, fellows are ready to hit the ground running in their first professional positions. Each fellow takes ownership of a clinical specialty area, in this case Behavioral Pain Management, which involves a combination of direct clinical care, representing Behavioral Medicine on a multispecialty team and at interdisciplinary meetings, and leading efforts in clinical research or program development. Additional clinical and professional activities may be tailored to individual fellows' based on training needs and interests.
In the Behavioral Pain Management Track, fellows will have the opportunity to engage in clinical work at all levels of pain management within the Geisinger system. Clinical pain management services include conducting initial assessments and evaluations, collaborating with patients to improve treatment readiness, adherence, and treatment planning/goals, providing evidence-based behavioral medicine treatment in individual and group formats, as well as leading psychoeducational lectures within various multidisciplinary clinics. Fellows also conduct evaluations on pre-surgical candidates within our own unique Destination Spine program and pain medicine for spinal cord stimulator implants.
In addition to clinical experience, the fellow will attend regular seminars with other Geisinger psychology fellows on professional topics (e.g., preparation for the EPPP, vita preparation, interviewing skills, salary negotiation) and specific health psychology topics (e.g., chronic pain, endocrine disorders, CBT for insomnia, LGBTQ and diversity training). The fellow will also participate in two hours of individual supervision each week and will have ½ day of protected time for research and program development. Fellows may have the opportunity to work with the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, train medical residents or students, and/or supervise PCBH interns.
