Position Summary: The Child Forensic Interviewer is responsible for conducting formal investigative interviews regarding allegations of child sexual and physical abuse or other crimes per RCW26.44.020. This position does require occasional testimony in court proceedings. The Child Forensic Interviewer works in close coordination with Law Enforcement, Division of Children, Youth, & Families, and the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office. This position requires a clear understanding of the growth, development, and needs of children. Work situations require an articulate and organized individual who demonstrates an understanding of trauma informed care. Internal contacts are primarily within the Child Abuse Intervention Department. External contacts include children, family members, community partners and other Children's Advocacy Center agencies.
Minimum Requirements: Experience /or familiarity with the criminal justice and dependency systems preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Masters degree in Child Development, Social Work, Elementary Education, with experience working with children and knowledge of sexual and physical abuse issues OR B.A./B.S. in Child Development, Social Work, Elementary Education, or related field, with extensive experience with children and with sexual and physical abuse issues Completion of specialized training that meets the RCW (43.101.224) and NCA standards or ability to complete training within 6 months of employment
