Schedule: Full Time
Shift: Rotating schedule. Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 8:00pm and Saturday-Sunday 10:00am - 6:00 pm.

The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible for accurate and efficient processing of all pharmacy cash and charge transactions. Responsible for prompt and accurate delivery of prescriptions to patients. Provides courteous, friendly and efficient service in finding merchandise when requested by customers and handling sale transactions. Assist pharmacy staff in a range of supportive duties consistent with goals, policies and procedure of the pharmacy. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

- Maintain a sense of urgency and accuracy while delivering medications to discharged patients. Maintain speed and accuracy while processing customer’s transactions. Demonstrates understanding of all procedures concerning cash register and computer systems. Keeps current on how to handle special sales such as credit cards, checks, payroll deduction, discount sales, split pays, exchanges or refunds. Runs daily and end of the month reports and verify employee charges twice monthly.
- Communicates with patients about the status of their prescriptions. Greet incoming customers immediately upon entering the store. Verify that prescriptions contain all the information needed to fill prescription, then gives to data entry technician for processing. Answer phone calls and determine nature of request. Writes refill requests making sure to get all needed information.
- Utilizes knowledge of all merchandise to promote “suggestive selling”. Shares the work of keeping the front end clean and organized. This includes unpacking, pricing and stocking of shelves, dusting, straightening and pulling of outdated merchandise. Request patient’s information including prescription card and places all information together and ask appropriate questions in regard to pharmacy counseling. Perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
- Follows a systematic approach for assisting with the flow of prescriptions through the pharmacy. Obtains HIPAA waiver if not on file. Address customers by name when possible. Smiles and make eye contact with all customers. Display a caring, courteous and congenial attitude toward customers and employees. Look for customers needing help and tries to wait on them as soon as possible. Talks to and gives attention to all customers but does not keep anyone waiting due to a personal conversation. Thanks, each customer when transaction is finished. Pays attention to people in line at register and calls for assistance with other register as needed.
- Contributes to the organization and efficient operation of the pharmacy. Organizes assigned work area by keeping it well stocked with necessary items and keeping it in an orderly fashion. Contributes potential ideas to improve patient care and department organization. Plans and manage time in order to complete work assignments within a schedule time frame, so assistance may be given to other team members when needed or as directed. Demonstrates ability to work effectively under pressure and stress. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Assist the pharmacy technicians when needed. Utilizes available educational materials and opportunities in field.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Previous experience as a cashier or pharmacy clerk
- Some knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficient with cash register software and exchange of monies
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to interact professionally with the public
Preferred:
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Previous experience operating cash registers
- Excellent customer service skills
- Previous pharmacy work experience preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent education/experience
