We are looking for a cloud expert to join us in the VICTR Office of Research Informatics as we transition on-premises systems to Microsoft Azure, as well as design and implement new cloud solutions in support of grant-funded programs and the VUMC research enterprise. Our growing Cloud Platform team is seeking a friendly, dedicated individual to join us in building robust systems to support leading edge clinical research; this includes research studies related to COVID-19, meaning that your work will contribute to the fight against the pandemic.
You will play an important role in architecting our cloud solutions and planning our system migrations as we continue to grow our cloud footprint. Additionally, your cloud expertise will be relied upon to guide and mentor our engineering teams who have begun to operate in Azure. Maintainability will be critical as many of our application lifespans are indefinite, intended to support clinical research into the far future. The sensitive nature of clinical data requires a principled approach to security, adherence to VUMC policies, and deep knowledge of industry best practices. We trust you will share our excitement as we leverage the security, agility, and scalability of the cloud to take clinical research to the next level.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Designs, implements, and manages cloud deployments of internally developed applications.
Monitors technology evolution and recommends improvements to our cloud platform strategy and implementation.
Provides scalable platforms for deployment of applications and infrastructure. Helps drive the evolution of these platforms.
Coaches and reviews the work of others.
Design and develop cloud native applications
Assists with Strategic Planning and short- and long-term roadmaps.

KEY SKILLS
Experience in Azure Cloud Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, or Lead Architect role leading the discovery, design, and build of medium to large scale Enterprise Migration solutions
Experience deploying cloud resources utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IAC) technologies as well as CI/CD, automation and DevOps practices
Familiarity with common Azure services such as Identity and Access Management, Directory Services, Virtual Desktops, Networking, Compute, Storage, etc.
Knowledge of Azure administration, troubleshooting, and optimization activities
Experience in application development using python, java, and/or c#

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT (INTERMEDIATE):
Has experience developing software using modern design principles and tools. Demonstrates the knowledge of software design principles and best practices for developing and deploying software in the cloud, including ci/cd pipelines and automation techniques.
CLOUD ARCHITECTURE (ADVANCED):
Has demonstrated knowledge of administering cloud systems as well as basic knowledge causes architecting me in its not a cloud-based solutions.
