Description

The Hagan Lab in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Cincinnati Children's Hospital is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in computational and systems immunology. This position will involve the development and application of tools for multi-omic data integration and analysis to study microbiome-immune system interactions and immune responses to vaccination and infection in humans. The types of datasets to be analyzed will include RNA sequencing, targeted and untargeted metabolomics, flow cytometry, sequencing-based microbiome profiling, epigenome, and single-cell sequencing data. Ongoing projects in the lab are performed in close collaboration with experimental and clinical colleagues, and strong communication and presentation skills are required.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

???Perform analysis and experiments

Design, execute, and record analysis and experiments

Apply standard scientific protocols to research, and improve current methods and evaluate innovative techniques.

Prepare, clean and analyze data.

???Communicate results/findings
Draft, write, and edit scientific journal articles, protocols, grants, and abstracts.

Maintain accurate and detailed records of all analysis and experiments. Develop, set-up, and verify new procedures in the department.

Standardize and establish new published procedures; evaluate innovative techniques.

Maintain an integral role in the department's meetings, presentations, and publications.

Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with department software/equipment.

???Financial/Budgeting
Assist in preparing grant applications. Assist business office in preparing grant budget. Work with business office to track funding, maintain accurate balance, and resolve any discrepancies.

???Staff Leadership
May provide day-to-day functional leadership for a team or directly manage a minimal number of support staff. Establishes team goals. Gives input into, and performs employee performance reviews. Oversees and guides work assignments. Serves as the functional expert and provides guidance to the team.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required: PhD or a Doctoral Degree with 0-2 years post doctoral experience

Preferred:
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in computational/systems biology, bioinformatics, bioengineering, computer science, statistics, or a related field. He or she will also have fluency in at least one programming language (e.g. R, MATLAB, or Python) and expertise in or willingness to learn immunology.
