Position Summary: The Hospital Safety Officer assures, for the assigned business unit(s), a safe and secure work/care environment is maintained, safety policies are met in accordance with national/state/local rules and regulations, and full compliance with accreditation/licensure standards at all times. The Safety Officer employs the risk management program designed to identify, prevent and minimize risk, and stops work in the event of immediate threat to life and safety at the assigned business unit. The Safety Officer conducts daily walkthroughs of facilities, investigates safety hazards, prepares reports, makes recommendations to correct safety hazards and monitors status of deficiencies noted for operational leadership. The Safety Officer works closely with all levels of staff and management, government regulatory agencies, local emergency agencies, and Safety and other hospital contractors in exercise of duties.
Minimum Requirements: Four (4) years of safety experience preferably in a hospital environment
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Bachelors degree in Safety or another related field, or 4 years of healthcare safety experience Certification in Industrial/Occupational Safety preferred Valid Washington State driver's license, and driving record consistent with MHS policy
