Provides on-site supervision of all support staff personnel and oversees support staff processes.
Monitors operational expenses and productivity related to inpatient phlebotomy, reference lab staff, and outpatient draw sites.
Performs and insures problem resolution, troubleshooting, and proper documentation
Maintains appropriate staffing through scheduling work assignments and tasks.
Establishes policies and procedures for phlebotomy and support staff; assures compliance with established processes.
Oversees supply inventory for main lab phlebotomy, outpatient Lab, and Lab Outreach sites.
Ensures quality of support staff functions by evaluating competency and coordinating training for support staff personnel.
Ability to ensure departmental compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements
Ability to address phlebotomy complaints and escalate through established channels, as needed.
Performs employee performance appraisals and progressive discipline/counseling.
Interviews and hires employees in conjunction with recruiting, staff supervisors, and manager.
Assists with staff related activities, including hiring, firing, coaching and counseling practices
Participation in Laboratory Quality Assurance program and process improvement initiatives as needed.
Demonstrates leadership and serves as laboratory representative and liaison to all departments and customers.
Assures workflow continuity through communication.
Maintains regular dialog with laboratory supervisory / managerial staff concerning quality, safety, and service standard behavior issues within the department and the facility.
Demonstrates ability to accept and facilitate change.
Conducts investigations to address employee, patient and family complaints and grievances
Maintains laboratory courier cars.
Other duties as needed.
What You Will Need:
Electronic Medical Record knowledge preferred
Associate degree business or in a related field.
5 years of Clinical Laboratory experience
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
Three years of technical phlebotomy experience
One years of leadership/management experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification if required by facility
Phlebotomy certification or equivalent
Supervises laboratory support staffs
Occasionally may act as shift supervisor in the absence of other supervisory personnel.
Supervises day-to-day operations and evaluates, trains, and schedules phlebotomist and, or lab assistant schedules. Responsible for managing assigned selected aspects of laboratory processes or shifts, which may include workflow, quality control process, performance improvement activities, training of new employees, advanced problem solving for customers and coworkers, department equipment or computer maintenance and upgrades.
