Serves as Occupational Therapy Supervisor and must know and implement policies, philosophies and directives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service, help integrate PM&RS with other program services, and be responsible for assisting the Clinical Manager, Rehabilitation, and PM&RS Service Chief in providing administrative supervision for planning, directing, organizing, coordinating, implementing, controlling and evaluating the overall administrative operations of the PM&RS programs. The Occupational Therapy Supervisor is expected to: Provide direct supervision to the GS13 and lower OT staff. Prepare functional statements for Title 38 hybrid, and position descriptions for Title 5 employees within OT service. Prepare performance plans for employees under direct supervision. Collaborate with subordinates in preparation of performance standards for all positions. Appraise performance of subordinates and take appropriate actions on results. Monitor staff competencies and coordinate with the service education liaison the provision of educational activities for the different levels and needs. Develop new employee orientation and training specific to OT, develops annual competencies and training specific to PM&RS for all OT staff within the service, and tracks the annual training completion for all OT staff. Maintain compliance and business integrity. Monitor productivity and efficiency. Maintain compliance with the Director's Performance Measures. Coordinate the assignment of volunteers and work study students. Support the rehabilitation research studies and investigations. Participate in recruitment and selection of OT service employees. Promote EEO goals in all rehabilitation services avoiding discriminatory practices. Contribute to the decision making process in matters of personnel management. Prepare PM&RS labor maps and monitor DSS accuracy and efficiency relating to OT staff and programs. Programs under supervision involve staff located in the CIIRP, Polytrauma Program, Hand Therapy, HBPC, Caregiver Support Clinic, fee basis therapists, and in-house clinical rehabilitation programs, and require specific knowledge of issues pertinent to those programs as well as the interdisciplinary team members assigned to those programs. Review and approve strategic and operational plans and follows through for implementation. Is authorized to make independent interpretations and to take action in program changes or quality mandates.
