SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for Hospital and College of Medicine security incident investigation, crisis response, combative patient intervention, safety-related emergency response, monitoring of advanced access control and surveillance systems. Provide for the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, students, buildings, assets, and premises.
High School diploma with 1 year of job related experience or a combination of equivalent related education and/or experience required.
Valid Driver's License required.
New hires must complete their IAHSS Basic Certification within 6 months of hire. Current employees must complete their IAHSS Basic Certification within 12 months. Once achieved, IAHSS Basic Certification must be kept current and recertification at the Basic Level or higher is required every 5 years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to maintain employee and patient confidentiality required. Advanced computer skills and ability to use electronic equipment required. Ability to work with limited supervision required. Ability to work well under pressure while relating to staff and customers required. Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, issues, and assignments with varying degrees of priority required. Manual dexterity adequate for utilizing a computer keyboard required. Ability to adapt to simultaneous, multiple, and varied stimuli required. Near visual acuity for deciphering fine print, viewing computer screens, and distinguishing color, sizes, and shapes required. Demonstration of dependability, including attendance and punctuality, required. Professional demeanor required.
Security experience in a hospital setting preferred. Previous customer service experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred. Advanced understanding of complex security access control and surveillance systems preferred. Understanding of and experience with Act 235 preferred.
Able to sit and walk frequently; stand occasionally Able to lift 0-50 lbs occasionally. Able to carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally. Able to push/pull 0-75 lbs occasionally. Able to climb occasionally; reach frequently.
