M Health Fairview has a fulltime opportunity (1.0 FTE) for a Laboratory Client Service Specialist to support the Laboratory Outreach Customer Service department.
This position will have an afternoon start time between 1 and 3 PM and will cover the weekends on the overnight shift, in rotation with other staff.
Working with diverse clients and patients within a healthcare laboratory environment, the Customer Service Specialist plays an important role in the organization and management of quality, proficient and professional services for our laboratories while demonstrating M Health Fairview values as they interact with our clients, patients and co-workers. The CSS serves as the primary customer contact, performing a variety of routine and problem-solving tasks to ensure that client needs are met and that necessary information is obtained to allow the laboratory to complete testing and billing functions promptly and efficiently. Responsible for accurately entering orders and billing information into the Laboratory Information System and associated subsystems; monitoring computer logs for incomplete work; scheduling and dispatching tests/procedures and providing results in LIS/HIS and over the phone, the CSSs attention to detail and accuracy are the foundation for our providing quality laboratory services. Working as an individual or team member, the CSS continuously works towards providing quality service improvement and optimum support to the department and team members in achieving M Health Fairview's goals.
Assists with the daily dispatch of mobile phlebotomy workload and manages incoming orders in LIS, EHR and subsystems
Demonstrates working knowledge of the clinical laboratory and understands medical terminology
Performs routine office procedures such as files, communicates with customer to obtain billing information, sorts and distributes mail, assists with data entry, and registers outpatients for laboratory procedures
Manages call resolution, test/result inquiries
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. Complies and promotes laboratory safety and infection control policies to ensure a safe work environment
Reviews, follows and understands established laboratory quality assurance and quality control procedures
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned
Successful candidates must be able to provide evidence of the following: successful customer service background within a diverse cultural setting.
1 year customer service experience in a health care setting
