This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The psychologist serves as a fully qualified staff psychologist at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, (MEDVAMC), one of the most complex 1A VA facilities in the nation, majorly affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine, and member of the Texas Medical Center; the largest medical center complex in the world. The psychologist position is administratively within the Mental Health Care Line, with primary assignment to the Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) and Heart Transplant team. In collaboration with the interdisciplinary Transplant team, the psychologist supports the transplant process across the entire continuum through pre-surgical psychological evaluations, providing treatment or resources for behavioral health treatment, and post-transplant follow-ups. The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center is committed to both clinical and academic excellence. The facility and both carelines are affiliated with Baylor College of Medicine as well as the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Candidates should be academically oriented and will have an excellent opportunity to collaborate with multiple disciplines in patient care, education and clinical research.
