The Vanderbilt Memory and Alzheimer's Center seeks qualified applicants for a Financial Analyst opportunity. In this pivotal role, the analyst will develop and conduct financial analyses, such as creating financial statements, maintaining detailed accounting of system transactions, preparing financial, statistical, and operational reports, and assembling presentations for multiple complex research projects.
The Vanderbilt Memory and Alzheimer's Center houses an interdisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians engaged in ground-breaking science to discover the root cause of Alzheimer's disease. The Center is highly collaborative in nature and this position requires a great deal of flexibility, creative thinking, and customer service working with sensitive and confidential information.
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing funding mechanisms, including multiple complex grants; is proficient in all Microsoft applications, with strong expertise in Excel; has strong analytical skills; has excellent accounting skills; is able to decipher financial situations with ease; has excellent organizational skills; has exceptional attention to detail; and is able to master responsibilities quickly and independently.
Develops projections to model the financial impact of research programs and projects.
Designs, develops, and modifies financial forecasting models and simulations for research programs.
Accumulates and analyzes data from existing or established databases, including REDCap, Departmental Management System, BI Launch Pad, Center Management, and various VUMC financial applications
Analyzes, accumulates, and reviews data for financial reports.
Conducts technical research and prepares synopses, including monthly readouts on financial transactions, balances, and spending projections.
Assembles data and compiles drafts, outlines and graphic materials for financial presentations.
Analyzes the effects of proposed federal and state statutes and regulatory actions which may impact long range financial planning.
Analyzes future trends and indicators in related areas of interest. Reviews data to analyze trends affecting budget needs.
Records data from source documentation and/or participant interaction onto invoice tracking forms (either paper or electronic) with awareness and attention to the requirements for accuracy, completeness and timeliness, allocating project costs appropriately across multiple projects. Attends to query resolution in a timely manner. Assures research information is collected and stored in a manner that is compliant with regulations/policies and good clinical practice documentation.
With direction assists with study completion, study closeout and archiving of study files, ensuring completeness and continuity of all study data, performing ongoing checks of clinical/translational data that has been entered on the invoice tracking forms (paper or electronic).
With supervision, develops and manages complex study budgets for large collaborative projects, monitoring efficient invoicing and taking appropriate action to maintain billing compliance
Collaboratively participates in study team meetings. Maintains open and positive communications with investigators, participants, co-workers, other departments and sponsors
Participates in process improvement of a variety of financial systems and reports.
Prepares reports, analyses, and data in response to ad hoc requests from leadership.
Builds and maintains positive relationships with Center staff and Department liaisons.
Prepares and submits annual subcontract/subaward renewals through VUMC's PEER system for large mechanisms.
Organizes subcontract/subaward effort, other support, progress reports, and contracts for large mechanisms.
Reviews and verifies subcontract/subaward invoices for accuracy.
