Description The School of Nursing at Stony Brook University and the Stony Brook Cancer Center invites/seeks applications for (1) full-time tenured/tenure-track position from individuals who are passionate researchers, engaged faculty, and experts in their field, who have a program of research in cancer. Candidates should be prepared to pursue an active program of research, with collaborative efforts in both the Stony Brook School of Nursing and the Stony Brook Cancer Center. Candidates seeking an appointment to a senior faculty rank must have active research funding. Rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Stony Brook School of Nursing and the Stony Brook Cancer Center offers generous start-up packages to highly qualified faculty.
At the rank of Assistant Professor, applicants must have outstanding research training and demonstrate research productivity and the potential to secure extramural research funding to support their development as a successful independent research scientist. At the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, applicants will have or will demonstrate successful track records to obtain funding to support independent programs of funded research. Associate Professor or Professor candidates should also be prepared to mentor junior faculty. All candidates should be prepared to mentor doctoral students, be committed to fostering diversity and inclusion, foster collaborative interdisciplinary research, and teach at the undergraduate/graduate levels. Applicants with federally funded programs of research will receive reduced teaching loads relative to grant effort. Applicants seeking funding will receive reduced teaching loads for the first year.
Rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
PhD degree or equivalent.
Active or emerging research program in cancer is required.
Hold or be eligible for a valid NY State professional nurse license.
Applications should include a cover letter outlining areas of active research, current teaching/practice experience, and a CV. Applicants should be prepared to supply a list of no less than three references upon application and undergo a criminal background check and drug screening.
The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.
