This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Duties include but are not limited to: Conducts mandatory patient care rounds to evaluate patient care with the majority of tour spent on the patient units. Demonstrates organizational skills with attention to detail; completing recurring reports regarding nursing hours per patient day, staffing, and the 24-hour report, providing for an overview of the medical center for the Associate Director for Patient Care Service and facility nursing leadership. The Nurse Coordinator plays an important, supportive role in all patient and employee initiatives. Assists the Nurse Managers by contributing to performance evaluations, educational development for the non-administrative tour employees, meeting performance measures and overseeing clinical practice. Demonstrates critical thinking skills, such as investigation of incidents which occur during tour, including obtaining statements from staff-on-the-spot. He/she is a consultant to physicians inpatient care and resource/discharge planning; collaborates with the Administrative Officer on Duty as needed for decisions related to ongoing patient care and actions taken in emergency situations and disasters; coordinates group self-schedules; covers coordinator absences and makes arrangements among the group to cover each other's unplanned absences; and performs pre-certification using InterQual Standards. Provides daily updates on hospital status to Nurse Executive for care provision and planning. Work Schedule: You must be available to work all shifts Sunday - Saturday. Monday-Friday requires shifts from 3:30p-4a or 7:30p-8a; weekends and holidays require 24 hour coverage in twelve hour increments. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Telework: Not available
