Security Guard I

The MSK Security Department provides a secure environment for the hospital staff, visitors and patients. As part of this team, you will monitor building entrances, interior floors, and outside perimeters of MSK buildings. Conduct investigations of certain incidents and prepare written reports. You will be required to respond to emergency incidents and render necessary assistance.

The MSK Security Guard is responsible for protecting the life and property of MSKCC patients, visitors and staff in a courteous and caring manner. As part of this team, you will monitor building entrances, interior floors, and outside perimeters of MSK buildings. Conduct investigations of certain incidents and prepare written reports. You will be required to respond to emergency incidents and render necessary assistance. you will need to be able to obtain the Fire and Life Safety Director, Certificate of Fitness

• High School or GED
• Valid New York State Security Guard License
• Fire Guard (F)-1 required
• Physical ability to react/respond quickly to emergencies, including life threatening situations, disorderly conduct, aggressive behaviors, crowd control, etc
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
• Standing, walking and/or continuously moving around
• Visual ability to monitor instruments and computers, distinguish characters (letters, numbers, etc); recognize colors, observe physical characteristics, etc.
• Knowledge of emergency preparedness concepts
• Knowledge of basic security concepts and procedures
• Knowledge and practice good ethical behavior
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent telephone skills
• Flexibility to work other shifts as needed
• Excellent customer service skills

• Experience working as a Security Guard in a position requiring NYS Security Guard license
• Associates degree or some college credits in Criminal Justice, Electronics/Security Technology or Computer Science
• 1 year experience working in a hospital environment or health Care facility
