Medical Director - Lung Transplant Program | University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota Department of Medicine's Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine (PACCS) Division is seeking to recruit a faculty member to serve as Medical Director of the Lung Transplant Program.  This is a very active, longstanding, and nationally and internationally recognized program, founded by Dr. Marshall Hertz with strong multidisciplinary collaborations. 

The new leader for this program will be an established leader or ‘rising star’ with strong administrative and leadership skills.  This individual may be either a very strong academic clinician or an established, funded investigator. The rank will be an advanced Assistant, Associate or full Professor of Medicine, and in the Tenure or Academic track, as appropriate. This individual is expected to assume the role of the Murphy Professor of Medicine within three years.  This faculty member should have expertise in lung transplant and pulmonary medicine with strong academic credentials and administrative skills.  S/he will provide clinical effort predominantly at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and will actively participate in the PACCS Division and Department of Medicine’s research, educational, and clinical programs.  As Medical Director (approximately 20% effort), s/he will work with leadership of the Solid Organ Transplant Service Line, to ensure high-quality clinical care and performance of the program.  This individual also will be responsible for oversight of clinical research and academic activity in lung transplant and will assist in mentorship, career development and recruitment of PACCS faculty involved in this program.  The balance of academic and research with clinical time will be determined by the individual’s research and funding profile.
