Overview Responsible for scheduling in-patient/out-patient procedures and/or surgeries in a call center environment. Responsible for collecting surgical charge vouchers and ensuring their correctness against documentation in Epic prior to posting the charges. Provides secretarial support to the department. Ability to travel between hospital sites/locations. Experience: At least 2 years directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge/Skills: Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, Epic and applications associated with performing basic work tasks. An understanding of supply and charging processes and attention to detail.Reports to: Business Manager Surgical Services. Direction of Others: None * Provides excellent customer service by demonstrating an understanding of internal and external customers needs. * Completes patient registration, collects demographic and clinical information for patient scheduling, registration, and account management. Maintains schedule in EPIC system. Makes outgoing calls to schedule procedures that align with schedule and entity goals. Ensures information is passed on to all appropriate persons and departments. Schedules services with contracted vendors. * Types memos, documents, reports, committee minutes, etc., for the department's director and staff. Attends meetings and takes minutes to ensure an accurate record of meeting. Prepares meeting materials for department staff. * Review and process surgery and anesthesia charges to ensure prompt, accurate patient bills. If there are inconsistencies, works with surgery department team members to ensure correct charting and charging of services occurs. Responsible for reviewing tissues and verifying they are accurately documented in the TrackCore system. * Develops and writes reports in response to management requests and in accordance with established policies/procedures (using EPIC or other systems). Assists business leaders with tracking block utilization. * Provides cross coverage for surgery billing, surgery scheduling and Operating Room desk (and SAU when needed). * Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards. * Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements. * Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned. Enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks. Quickly grasps the essence and underlying structure of anything. Medical Terminology/Spelling: Familiar with medical terminology and medical spelling. Office Skills: Knowledge and application of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology. Records Management: Knowledge of appropriate data collection policy and procedures, filing systems, data management systems, and programs. Ability to compile, assimilate, organize, and store printed and electronic information.
