JOB SUMMARY:

Assistant Professor with work experience in the areas of medical genetics and genetic counseling. Work as leaders of health care and research teams, providing information and support to families, individuals considering genetic testing, and to individuals participating or considering participating in research.

Develop and manage research projects and clinical programs related to the field of medical genetics, genetic testing, genetic counseling, and bioethics.  Supervise Research and Clinical Staff.

Serve as program leaders, consultants, educators and resources for other health care professionals and the general public.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

Demonstrated ability to independently manage scientific aspects of research projects and to provide discipline-specific scientific expertise to research projects. Excellent analytic, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required. 

Demonstrated ability to obtain external funding for research activities. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

PhD in relevant discipline or MD/DO preferred; terminal degree and clinical training with national board certification in relevant clinical specialty may be accepted. 

Relevant experience and demonstrated promise of success as an independent investigator is required. 

In addition, there is an expectation of 5 peer-reviewed scientific publications in which the candidate contributed a significant role. 

Preferred Education/Experience: Graduate degree in genetic counseling from ACGC accredited college/university, ABGC certification, Pennsylvania and other states license as needed and Geisinger clinical credentials in genetic counseling.

7 years’ experience as a genetic counselor.
