The Database Administrator is responsible for protecting enterprise data.Day to day functions include the management, installation, deployment, monitoring and ongoing support of enterprise databases for both business and clinical systems at Nemours.This position participates in resolving complex technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.Additionally, this position requires solid customer service skills to support and assist end users.
Protects enterprise database assets. This includes implementing and monitoring effective database backup and recovery methodologies and processes.
Assumes database administrator role for projects as designated by supervisor which may include: analyzing user needs and creating proper database design to meet those needs; installing and configuring new database environments and upgrading existing database environments.
Provides daily support for existing database solutions, including modifying, testing, validating, and documenting system changes. Adheres to normal change control processes for these activities.
Participates in day-to-day system administration including performance tuning, system monitoring, problem investigation, and optimization.
Develops and maintains database environment documentation.
Stays current on technological aspects of the position.
Adheres to departmental standards and procedures and enterprise standards of behavior.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager.
Provides on-call off hours support daily or on weekends as required to support the applications.
Participates in meetings and activities as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Regular attendance required.
A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered as well.
This position does require some on-call coverage.
1 to 3 years of prior experience is required.
