VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System is among the newest VA Medical Centers in the US and has been improving the health of the men and women who have so proudly served our nation in the Las Vegas Community since 1972. The VASNHS is comprised of a newly constructed 80+ bed medical center, and 120 bed Community Living Center / Future Nursing Home Care Unit, (4) primary care clinics throughout the Las Vegas Valley, and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Pahrump and Laughlin, Nevada. The Las Vegas valley is short drive to Southern California, has no State Income Tax, low property taxes, and abundant and affordable planned communities and housing options.
The selected Gastroenterologist Physician Candidate will be responsibilities for completing patient history and physical examinations, diagnosis, and therapeutic-ability, effectiveness in emergencies, patient management, consultation, specialty skills and record keeping. Physician is expected to promote delivery of quality patient care based on current standards in the practice of GI Diseases in our gastroenterology clinics and hospital; ICU and Hospital coverage; Performs GI Endoscopies/Special Procedures (G-tube, ERCP, etc.); Skill and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including the ability to identify patient needs and to provide the care needed to promote improvement. Provider will also have teaching responsibilities include the effectiveness in teaching, monitoring and coordination of educational activities - planning, evaluating and documenting. Gastroenterologist's educational responsibilities include: Teaching house staff/students in ICU/Hospital/outpatient clinic; Research responsibilities and development include the ability to identify and define significant research and development problems, to plan and execute a precise research program and to generate effective reports and results worthy of publication. The GI Physician should be able to communicate and promote the broad use of the results of research and development.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30 pm with on-call duties on the weekend, night, and holiday as necessary.
